The World Will Be Watching: MMC to Air LIVE on FUEL TV Featured

(Irvine, Calif. April 27, 2010) The Maloof Money Cup presented by Vans, the worlds greatest skateboarding event, announced today that for the first time, the 2010 New York and Orange County contests will be broadcast live on FUEL TV, the only network dedicated to the lifestyle of action sports. The live, multi-day television coverage of a single sport event is a first for action sports and will bring the Maloof Money Cup to millions of U.S. households. In addition to the live TV coverage, FOX Sports, Fox Sports Net (FSN) and FUEL TV will air one-hour Maloof Money Cup programs featuring event highlights and exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews, giving Maloof Money Cup 2010 the most comprehensive coverage of any single action sports event in history.
Bringing fans live, multi-day television coverage of a skateboarding event is a first for the industry, said MMC creator Joe Maloof, owner of the NBAs Sacramento Kings and the Palms Casino Resort. The FUEL TV team is amazing and they really know skateboarding. This is a tremendous opportunity for our contest and for skateboarding fans everywhere. Weve been blown away by the reaction to this contest and the support weve received from skaters and the skateboarding community.
FUEL TVs partnership with the Maloof Money Cup is groundbreaking, said CJ Olivares, FUEL TV GM. This will be FUEL TVs first live broadcast of a skateboard contest, and were looking forward to providing the best and most authentic coverage possible.
FUEL TV will broadcast two hours of live coverage each day during the New York contest, June 5-6 and the Orange County event, August 4-8.
The FOX programs will air following the networks coverage of the F1 European Grand Prix race on Sunday, June 27, 2-3pm ET / 11am-12pm PT and Saturday, August 28, 3-4pm ET / 12-1pm PT prior to MLB on FOX coverage. Maloof Money Cup programs on FSN regional sports networks have not yet been scheduled. Check local listings.
We are extremely excited to be part of the FOX family with our two events in 2010, said Tim McFerran, general manager of MMC. Maloof Money Cup is the leader in the innovation and progression of skateboard contests. As the leading television network, FOXs success is driven by the youth audience and their new and innovative programming, making this partnership a perfect fit all around.
Skateboarding fans will also have access to more than 30 hours of additional live coverage via FUEL TVs exclusive HD webcasts of both contests at www.fuel.tv/maloofmoneycup. The live TV and webcast coverage will allow skateboarding fans around the world to watch in real time as the greatest collection of skaters ever assembled compete for nearly $800,000 in cash and prizes between the two events.
Last year, the live FUEL TV webcast set a new record for the largest audience ever for a skateboarding event, said Maloof. And this year were building on that with unprecedented coverage that allows us to bring all the action and excitement of the Maloof Money Cup to millions of fans across the country and around the world.
Broadcasting this contest live on both FUEL TV and on FUEL TVs website is a major undertaking for our team, said Scott Paridon, VP of Production and Development. Were going to be working hard to make this the most exciting skateboard contest ever, whether youre watching on television or on the Web.
This year, the Maloof Money Cup expands to New York City June 5-6 and will feature the Volcom Street Pro and the World Industries Amateur Championships. The Orange County contest will be held for a third consecutive year at the OC Fair & Event Center August 4-8 and will feature the Volcom Street Pro, Womens Pro Street, Carls Jr. Mens Pro Vert championship and the World Industries Amateur Competition.
