
5Boro, IPath & the Maloof Money Cup May 8th, 2010
Bronx, NY - in support of the skateboarding community on May 8th, 5Boro Skateboards along with Ipath footwear and the Maloof Money cup will present the 2nd annual Battle for the Bronx Skate Jam, A skateboard event which willfeature a jam format competition along with other festivities. The event will be held at the Bronx Park East Skate Park on May 8 Th from 1pm -6pm.
This year's event will be hosted & judged by Steve Rodriquez, Founder of 5Boro Skateboards and feature a pro skateboarding demonstration by the 5Boro team. The event will also offer live music, raffle and a chance to win free Maloof Money Cup Tickets or a pair of IPath Sneakers. Following the skate competition, Event staff, will facilitate a huge product toss with prizes ranging from t-shirts to skateboard decks.
The day event will begin with an open qualifier, where the winners move on to the semi-finals and those winners to the final round later on that day. Pre-registration will take place on-line or competitors may register the day of the event. The competition is free and includes prizes and giveaways provided by event partners & sponsors, 5Boro, Ipath, Maloof Money Cup, Indigenous Skateboards, Volcom & QuestNY. Our goal is to support the NYC skate community by providing locals with the opportunities to showcase their talent and hone their skills; Skateboarding offers an alternate form of transportation over short distances,promotes a healthy life style and is available to everyone regardless of Socio-Economic background. These are several of the reason why in the near future we will see skateboarding compete with other outdoor pursuits for the title of Americas Favorite Pastime. Bronx Park boasts some of NYC most beautiful outdoor space and ecologically diverse wildlife. From zoos to historic landmarks to playgrounds, Bronx Park is an area for all to enjoy. Bronx Park Skate Park is Located in the North Bronx and can be entered at the corner of Allerton Ave & Bronx Park East. The park can be reached easily by mass transportation and limited parking is available.
By Car: The Bronx River Parkway, northbound to Exit #8E: Allerton Ave. Southbound on the Bronx River to Exit #8W
By Subway: take the IRT # 2 (7th Avenue Line) directly to Allerton Ave. Walk 3 blocks west to the entrance of the park.
By Bus: Take the MTA Bronx #26, which will stop on Allerton Ave. right across from the park or the #39 to White Plains Road and Allerton Ave. and walk 3 blocks west.
