Introduction The event started at 10:00 am where Dj … started off things with a nice dance music 1hr set. That set the tone for onlookers and people who were going to do shopping to have an interest in what was taking place. The Boogaloos crew and Northern Cape Tourism Authority marketing staff ensured that the whole perimeter was fully branded with the Maloof branding. Wandile from Funisu and Skullcandy and Warrick started off by showing young girls and boys on how to skateboard and all the safety elements of skateboarding. By 12:00 pm the event was really starting to pick up, more and more young skateboarders came to the small skatepark that was set up for the day. There were 20 young skateboarders from all racers by that time.

Skateboarding
The skateboarding started at 11:00 am where guys where warming up for the jam sessions that were coming up. Some guys were really showing some awesome potential. By 12:00 pm the skate park was really starting to fill up with skateboarders. Jam session no 1 was started at 12:20pm, the guys were given 20 minutes to do Best Trick. The winner of the Jam Session was to win a brand new pair of Vans shoes courtesy of Boogaloos. Jam session no 2 took place at 13:20 were the guys were really warmed up and showed daring skateboard tricks. The winner also got the snazzy Vans sneakers. Mr. Joe Maloof, Tim Mcferran and the Northern Cape delegates arrived at the venue and that really started the program. Mr. Joe Maloof donated 40 skateboarding merchandises and purse prize to other back to back Jam sessions. The 3 back to back Jam sessions will have 5 winners. Each winner walked away with R200. After the Jam sessions, a last day best trick session was held where the guys won Hoodies, T-shirts and Caps courtesy of Mr. Joe Maloof. The Boogaloos guys were also generous by giving away complete element skateboards to 10 young kids. More than 50 skateboarders were at the event by end of the day.

Music
Dj …. Started the event and Dj Zero kept spinning the decks for the entire event. The played Hip Hop, House and Dance music. That kept crowd dancing and wanting to stay and see more.

8. A special performance by one of South Africa’s biggest hip hop stars called the Da Les was one of the highlights for the day. The crowd got entertained, were dancing and singing to all his songs.

Band Performances
Zakes started the event with an acapella solo performance. He was confident on stage and did a vanacular-english rap. He was followed by a talented group called Palm Movement, these guys play beautiful jazzy vibe of music with a bit of the old South African music. Their performances were one of the best. Green monkey followed with a good hip hop performance. The skateboarders really enjoyed their performance. Charmza and crew came on stage and performed kwaito music. Their performance was very lively. Then the Da Les came on stage and sowed us what he is made of. The crowd was singing along with him, even the crowd joined him on stage. Then the highlight of the performances of the day was done by a black rock band called ‘The Spell of Laughter’. These guys are awesome and are going to go places. Their performance was spot on. The Soweto beat boxers came on stage and did their thing. Hauweng was the last group to perform and did a good job. Their performance was a kasi based style hip hop. Conclusion
The program was full and was executed accordingly. The message of the Maloof Money cup was conveyed to the crowd time and time again. We are hoping to see a lot of Joburgers in Kimberley for the event. Special thanks to one of Northern Cape Ambassadors ‘Pysfo’ for gracing the event with his presence and the conveyance of the Maloof Message to the crowds. Would like to thank the media for making it (Supersport, Yo TV, Soweto TV, etc.). Not forgetting the honorable Premier Hazel Jenkins and her cabinet. Finally warm hearted thanks to Mr. Joe Maloof and Tim Mcferran for making it to South Africa and taking the whole day to be part of the event. NB: I have attached some pictures below
