"Southern California is the birthplace of street skating, with Venice, Santa Monica and Orange County being the epicenter,” said Rowley. “This year’s Maloof course takes design influence from the diversity of the famous iconic spots within this zone; some that are still around (Santa Monica Pier) and a few that are not (Sadlands). This year’s Maloof Money Cup is going to be totally awesome, totally radical and totally off the wall."
“I’m really excited about this year’s OC contest,” said MMC Creator Joe Maloof, whose family owns the NBA’s Sacramento Kings and Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. “Geoff Rowley’s design pays tribute to the rich heritage of skateboarding by incorporating iconic skate spots. I think what has made MMC stand out from other contests is that we give the skaters the freedom to design our courses and we only build real concrete street courses. Combine that with the fact that you’re competing on close replicas of iconic skate spots, some that are no longer around, and it makes it not only fun and exciting for the skaters, but it results in a high intensity level, which is incredible to watch. The energy and excitement in the stands is amazing and I think it really fuels the skaters and creates an atmosphere for truly remarkable skateboarding. It’s that intensity and excitement that I believe is why MMC has the most attended skateboarding contest in the world.”
2010 Carl’s Jr. Vert Ramp Design
Designed by Bob Burnquist, Pierre Luc Gagnon (PLG), Bucky Lasek and Rune Glifberg, the 2010 Carl’s Jr. Vert ramp brings back the mini-mega ramp, but this year’s design offers a more complete competition. A rail, a jump and a combo element allow competitors to skate all aspects of vert and a giant pyramid hip in the middle of the vertical ramp will give it more of a street feel. Get ready to see some big air action on the quarter pipe and more technical moves on the vert ramp and rainbow rail.
“The Maloof Money Cup is such a great contest because they give the skaters complete freedom with the ramp and format design which really showcases the progression of skateboarding at its highest level,” said 2008 MMC Vert Champ PLG.

Course Design Committee New York
Each year, our course design committee includes a top pro skateboarder who works with the experts at California Skateparks to design the street courses for the competition. For our first-ever New York contest, we brought in legendary NYC skateboarding advocate and owner of 5Boro, Steve Rodriguez, and Pro Skater Geoff Rowley to create a competition course featuring replicas and near replicas of popular skate spots from each of the five boroughs. Located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, the course will be donated to the City as a permanent skatepark after the MMC contest. Vert Design Orange County
The 2009 Maloof Money Cup Carl’s Jr. Pro Vert Championship featured the first ever mini mega ramp with a 20-ft gap into a unique vert ramp. Conceived of by pro skaters Bob Burnquist, Jake Brown and 2008 MMC vert champ Pierre Luc Gagnon (PLG), it featured a rainbow rail and was divided into sections for the competition format. This year, Bucky Lasek and Rune Glifberg have been tapped to design the 2010 Vert Ramp along with PLG and Bob Burnquist. MMC is dedicated to push the progression in skateboarding and this year the pros have really come up with a next level ramp that will be more entertaining and challenging than any other vert ramp in history. Details will be released soon.

OVERVIEW
At the 2007 X Games, Joe Maloof watched on live TV as pro skateboarder Jake Brown took a frightening 50-foot fall during the Big Air Vert competition landing directly on his back. To everyone’s relief, Brown walked away unhurt from what could have been a life changing event. It was Brown’s fall that inspired Joe and Gavin Maloof to create the Maloof Skateboarding Assistance Foundation. Established in 2008, the Maloof Skateboarding Assistance Foundation is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to :
Providing monetary support to professional skaters who suffer catastrophic injuries while skateboarding To build skate parks in order to provide a safe and legal environment for skaters. Providing insurance to all skateboarders who compete in the Maloof Money Cup. In 2009, Monster Energy sponsored the first annual “Ante Up for Skateboarding” Poker Tournament benefitting the MSAF. Jake Brown took first place in the tournament and instead of keeping his winnings he donated everything back to the foundation. The event was such a success the second annual "Ante Up for Skateboarding" Poker Tournament was held again at the Palms Resort and Casino in 2010.
MSAF hosted an opportunity drawing in the Festival Village of the Maloof Money Cup. Following the MMC, MSAF held a special online auction offering a Palms Resort and Casino getaway package with two nights complimentary stay in the Maloof Brothers Suite at Palms Place, dinner for two at Nove Italiano restaurant, plus pro skateboarder Jake Brown and friends joined the winner to make sure they had a great time.Other items auctioned off were a one-of-a-kind Gibson Guitar and a autographed signature skateboards from many of the pro’s that skated in the MMC.
