Maloof Money Cup Interviews Pro Skateboarder Ryan Decenzo. Ryan talks about skating at the 2012 Maloof Money Cup, Kimberley South Africa, tips for future skaters and his new products.
Late last year, Maloof Money Cup collected over 200 pairs of new or lightly worn shoes to cover needy feet in Kimberley, South Africa via the "Skate and Donate" program. The shoes were recently sent to our thriving Kimberley Maloof Skate Plaza and will be both given to the local skaters and distributed in the less fortunate areas of Kimberley. While sorting the shoes, we even unearthed several classic skate shoes, re-issues and samples! Among them were the Emerica OG 1 (Marc Johnson 1 reissue), Lakai Koston ('eS Koston reissue), e'S e'S 1's (Koston 1 silhouette on vulc sole), Lakai Foster 1 Popwar collab, among several other gems. Sneaker heads, rejoice! Check the photo gallery for proof. These kicks will clothes several feet in the Kimberley, SA region very shortly. Thank you to all who donated shoes and made this mission a success!

RIP Pro Skater Lewis Marnell

Unfortunately most of us over at the MMC camp have not had the opportunity to meet or know Lewis, but every time one of the greats in skateboarding leaves us too soon, we all feel it. RIP to an amazing skateboarder, our thoughts are with his friends and family. Check out his part from the Nike video, "Nothing But The Truth" and then go skate switch for Lewis.
On December 23rd, the Maloof Family, Maloof Money Cup staff, and members of the NCG hosted over 160 youth and their families from the skateboarding community in Kimberley and the surrounding township at the Maloof Cup skate plaza in Kimberley South Africa. "It was a great opportunity for us to give back, that’s what Skateboarding for Hope is.” said Joe Maloof, owner of Maloof Money Cup.

A Christmas dinner, gifts and prizes were awarded throughout the evening as musical groups performed. "The skate park in Kimberley has become an example to Kimberley and the world on how a private public partnership can work to the benefit of the community, we are extremely proud of this partnership. Not only has it brought worldwide attention to Kimberley to the extent that this great city has never seen before but the park has become a community gathering spot for activities like this dinner. This really has a positive meaning that Kimberley can be proud of.
I have to credit great vision to the leadership of the Northern Cape. Vision for the community, is about looking into the future and creating a plan that helps the community grow over the next 5 to 10 years and the NCG has really done that. This is not just an event that comes and goes, it’s about building a lasting legacy that benefits the community and it has worked beyond all of our dreams.” - Joe Maloof

I want to give special thanks to Adela and Ebrahim (Braimpie) Adams for organizing and give their time to see this project work, the Adam's family are heavily involved in the community and we are proud to call them friends.

We are just so thankful to Kimberley and the community that this was one of many tokens of our appreciation.

Theo Setsetse Skate Edit

The Setsetse is a 14 year old skater from Botswana who moved to Kimberley for boarding school in 2012. It was pretty obvious that Theo's main motive for moving to Kimberley was to skate the Maloof Plaza on a regular basis, and the move has definitely pushed his progression of skating! Theo's got his style together pretty good for a young skater, and we're stoked to see him come up in such a short period of time. Theo is a humble young man with a great future ahead of him. Check out this clip he put together of him skating the Maloof Plaza along with a local Botswana skatepark. Enjoy!
