Maloof Money Cup
Today Maloof Skateboarding announced the list of vert skaters who will compete in the Maloof World Skateboarding Championships, returning for a second year to Kimberley, South Africa Sept. 28-30. The best professional vert skaters from around the world will compete for the largest first place prize in vert skateboarding, $75,000, and a world championship title.

Thousands flocked to Kimberley, South Africa last September for the inaugural event. Hotels sold out all weekend, restaurants and businesses hired additional workers to help with the influx of fans who descended on the small town, once famous for its diamond mines. Dozens of busses brought fans from cities across the Northern Cape to local campgrounds that overflowed with tent cities.

"The reception we received in Kimberly and across South Africa for our contest last year was incredible," said Joe Maloof, founder of Maloof Money Cup and owner of the NBA's Sacramento Kings and the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. "We're excited to return to Kimberley for a second year and I can tell you that the anticipation for this year's contest is inspiring. In the last year, South Africa has seen skateboarding grow to new heights as kids in townships and provinces across the Northern Cape take up skateboarding as an affordable, healthy activity. It's only a matter of time before we see these kids join the ranks of the international pros."

This year's pro vert skaters include Alex Perelson, Bob Burnquist, last year's winner Pierre Luc Gagnon, Sandro Dias, Elliot Sloan, Andy MacDonald, Adam Taylor, Danny Mayer and 12-year-old Tom Schaar. Schaar is the young newcomer who set a world record as the first skater to ever successfully land a 1080. He landed the huge trick again in the X Games Asia earlier this year to win the Mini Mega Gold.

The Maloof World Vert Championships will take place Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30.

"To be able to hold the world championships in Kimberly, South Africa, with this amazing group of athletes is unprecedented; there is just no other contest that compares to this in terms of prize purse, importance or pressure," says Tim McFerran, General Manager of Maloof Skateboarding. "We're proud to offer the highest cash prize in vert skateboarding and to bring these amazing pros to Kimberley to inspire a new generation of skateboarders in South Africa."

The Maloof Money Cup World Skateboarding Championships will be webcast live on the official Maloof Money Cup YouTube channel on the following dates/times:

Saturday, Sept. 29: 12:45 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. EDT/ 9:45 p.m. - 3:30 a.m. Pacific
Sunday, Sept. 30: 2:45 p.m. - 4:30 a.m. EDT/ 11:45 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. Pacific

2012 Maloof Money Cup Musicians

The Maloof Money Cup is known for having some of the greatest musicians in the world as performers and headliners, and the 2012 South Africa competition is no different.  Below are the performers that will be joining us on in Kimberley, South Africa in September.

Jack Parrow to Perform at the 2012 Maloof Money CupJack Parrow

I was really drunk and was watching Pirates of the Caribbean and I said: "Fuck Jack Sparrow the pirate of the Caribbean, I'm Jack Parow, pirate of the caravan park." Jack Parow

Twenty-eight years ago, Zander Tyler was born in Parow, Cape Town. Today he is known as Jack Parow, original donker dodgy afrikaans rapper. Contrary to popular belief, his wild-fire success did not happen overnight. Jack started out rapping with crews from the Cape Flats and has been at it for nine years.

He studied to be a mechanic, but had to take jobs like packing fish in Cape Town harbour and allocated graves for the Cemetery Division of the Cape Town municipality to support his rap habit. Performing only for a beer and pizza soon changed, when his collaboration with Die Heuwels Fantasties on the track, Die Vraagstuk, put him in the limelight.

It's been almost two years since his breakthrough in 2009 and since Jack Parow has released his first self-titled full length album that struck gold within two weeks of its release and went platinum within a year; headlined at major festivals in South Africa; toured Europe and played before packed out shows there. His music video for the hit Cooler as Ekke has over 1 million views on YouTube. His songs are hits on national radio stations and he has been on prime TV shows and on covers and centre-folds of publications in South Africa and in Europe.

"...it is safe to say that he is one of the most popular artists in the country at the moment." Rebecca Khan - Rapport My Tyd

Dino Bravo to perform at 2012 Maloof Money CupDino Bravo

South Africa is renowned for its diverse cultures, and music is but one of the offerings the country proudly boasts. Today, Angolan born DJ Dino Bravo calls South Africa his home and adds much vibrance and skill to the profession that has captured his heart and soul – music.

Africa has been home to Bravo for quite some time. After being raised in Cuba, he moved to South Africa in the early 90s an
d has adapted perfectly to the lifestyle and culture that the country is known for.

His music inspiration hails from the strong Samba, Latino and African rhythm he is accustomed to and the result of this unique blend is a host of infectious combinations of musical styles. Music has forever been ingrained in this artist’s soul and his entry into the music world goes back to the days of his youth where he enjoyed break-dancing and rapping.

No musical style goes unnoticed and his musical repertoire includes that of hip-hop, kwaito, bhangra, pop, plus much more. Each style is influenced and complemented by the unique flavour he adds each time.

It was inevitable that such talent would be noticed – Bravo caught the attention of DJ Fresh at Intersections nightclub in Randburg. The fellow DJ enjoyed Bravo’s unique style of mixing and interesting song selection, and this led to an invite onto DJ Fresh’s YFM show. Exposure on-air saw the concept of the ‘mega-mix’ being born and Bravo began to gain a following of fans across South Africa. He continued to perform to crowds all over the country and it became evident that this artist was one to watch.

Soon after, he released his first CD entitled Bravomania in 2003. This platinum certified album included collaborations with some of South Africa’s finest musical talent including Kabelo, Skwatta Kamp, Malik, Proverb, Black Jack, and DJ Fresh, to name but a few.

Bravo remains ever faithful to his indigenous sounds but has continued to reinvent himself over the years. The result of this is the great-sounding rhythms that have, and continue to, set many a dance floor alight! His ongoing evolution proves that he is able to constantly adapt to the latest music trends, sounds and techniques.

By remaining connected to his roots and influences he is able to create sounds that he himself loves. As a result, his music is forever filled with soul and rhythm, and has the ability to reach and touch people. His musical creations unite cultures and are inspired from the soulful meaning of music.

His passion reaches far beyond the decks and he has shown a keen interest in producing – yet another talent that remains to be truly showcased.

Bravo’s success is thanks to his hard work, long hours and true dedication (no matter what it takes) when creating the music. DJ Dino Bravo is a true reflection of the potential that exists within the music industry. It is the combination of his love for music and the determination he has to share this music that sets this artist apart from the crowd and it is this very quality that keeps him on the minds of all who share his mania for this wonderful thing called music!

DJ Dino Bravo adapts to any kind of entertainment environment and his versatility only further demonstrates his true musical ability.

DJ ScientificDJ Scientific

Jason Marchiondo, is known as the dynamic Dj Scientific. Drawn to music early on, he heard the art of djing and scratching calling him at the age of 5. After nearly destroying one of his mother’s records she gave him his first lesson in djing, and explained to the young Scientific that she didn’t have the right kind of needle on her record player to perform his “WIKI WIKIs”. This didn’t deter a young Scientific, one day, while his mother was still at work he decided to experiment with scratching again. This time, it was with his own record, the first record he ever owned, a Star Wars album he had received from McDonalds. He threw the paper thin piece of vinyl on the turntable and cut it to shreds in about 5 minutes, and never looked back.

Scientific was raised in Albuquerque, NM, living in every record store and exploring every source of music he could find to quench his musical appetite. Through out this time, his passion for digging in every crate and practicing on any turntable put in front of him, he has amassed an unsurpassed musical knowledge and record collection exceeding 25,000 albums. In 1996, he started hosting the ground breaking radio hip-hop show Street Beat, on the University of New Mexico's own KUNM 89.9 fm. In 1998, The Source Magazine featured DJ Scientific in an article titled "IN THE HOOD", which credited his artistic abilities and presented him to the global music community.

Soon after, Scientific began to travel and moved to Washington, DC to advance his musical foundation, and studied at American University. Enjoying the broader artistic arena and freedom on the road, he thrives when touring, and has enjoyed the opportunity to open for, perform, and share the stage/ turntables with artists such as:

Heiroglyphics, Blackalicious, Dilated Peoples, Dr. Octagon, Mr. Lif, El-Producto, Rjd2, Cage, (Def Jux), Common, The Roots, Pharaoh monche, Akrobatik, Mr. Complex, Krs-1, Busta Rhymes, Motion Man, Cee-Lo, De La Soul, The Gza, Old Dominion, Jurassic 5, Lyrics Born, Lateef, Rhazel, Guru, Immortal Technique, Supernatural, Swollen Members, Dan The Automator, Ag, Cypress Hill, The Pharcyde, Kid Capri, Funkmaster Flex, DJ jazzy jeff, Alkaholiks, The Living Legends, The High and Mighty, Zion-I, El Da Sensei……….

Currently, the Maloof Brothers have hired DJ Scientific as the Entertainment Analyst for the world famous Palms Casino Resort property, in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. This job includes a residency inside the Playboy Club and guest features in all of the venues, as well as a position in the state of the art recording studio, Studio At The Palms.

Dj Scientific will continue to provide the most exciting and unforgettable experience with every performance, and cultivate a following everywhere he drops a needle on the record.
Lil Jon to perform at the Maloof Money Cup 2012 Lil Jon
Website:http://www.liljononline.com/
Early career

After working as a DJ for Atlanta night clubs, he started working for So So Def Recordings between 1993 and 2000. The group signed to the Atlanta-based Mirror Image Records and were distributed by Ichiban Records. In 1997, Lil' Jon & the East Side Boyz debuted with Get Crunk, Who U Wit: Da Album. It included singles "Who U Wit?" and "Shawty Freak a Lil' Sumthin'", the latter of which came out in 1998. Both singles charted on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at #70 and #62 respectively.[6] In 2000 Jon took part in starting up his own label BME Recordings and signed a distribution agreement with Norcross, Georgia based Southern Music Distribution. There he released his break through album titled We Still Crunk. Among the tracks on that project was the hit single "I Like Dem Girlz", which reached #55 on the R&B chart and #3 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart.

After hearing feedback that Lil' Jon was "the new guy" from street team people in the markets where he was attracting his biggest audiences - namely Atlanta, St. Louis, Memphis and Dallas - A&R at TVT, Bryan Leach, went to one of his Atlanta shows and was blown away by the immense energy of the experience. Leach told HitQuarters: "It was like early Beastie Boys, when they had the energy of a rock group but they were rapping, and ... that energy is what crunk music is all about."Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz signed to TVT Records in 2001 and debuted there with Put Yo Hood Up, which combined previously released tracks with new ones. The group's first nationally played single was "Bia' Bia'", which featured rappers Ludacris, Too Short, Big Kapp, and Chyna Whyte. "Bia' Bia'" peaked at #97 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #47 on the Billboard R&B chart.

In 2002, the group released Kings of Crunk. "I Don't Give A..." was its first single; it featured Mystikal and Krayzie Bone and peaked at #50 on the R&B chart. The group's next single, a collaboration with fellow Atlanta hip hop group Ying Yang Twins titled "Get Low", became popular in nightclubs nationwide and reached the top ten of the Hot 100.Crunk Juice followed in 2004, led by "What U Gon' Do" featuring Lil' Scrappy. "What U Gon' Do" peaked at #22 on the Hot 100, #13 on the R&B chart, and #5 on the rap chart; its follow-up, "Lovers & Friends" featuring Usher and Ludacris, peaked at #3 (Hot 100), #2 (R&B), and #1 (rap).
[edit] Solo career and production

In addition to leading Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz, Lil' Jon has also produced many hit urban singles. From 2003 to 2005, while still with The East Side Boyz, Lil' Jon produced hits like "Salt Shaker" by Ying Yang Twins, "Yeah!" by Usher, "Freek-a-Leek" by Petey Pablo, "Shorty Wanna Ride" by Young Buck, "Shake That Monkey" by Too Short, "Let's Go" by Trick Daddy, and "Girlfight" by Brooke Valentine. Lil' Jon entered the San Francisco Bay Area hyphy music scene in 2006 with his collaborations with Bay Area rapper E-40: Lil' Jon produced E-40's single "Tell Me When To Go" and had E-40 and Atlanta rapper Sean P on his own "Snap Yo Fingers".[8] In 2006, Lil' Jon severed his negotiation with record label TVT. He vowed never to record for TVT Records again, alleging that TVT owner Steve Gottlieb was shortchanging him.[9] He also began recording a rock music album, Crunk Rock; in May 2006 he began recording in Las Vegas, Nevada because rock band The Killers was recording its upcoming album Sam's Town there and the East Side Boyz signed a new deal with Rick Robinson aka Double R CEO and Founder of IMG Recordings, which the album got pushed back to 2010.

MTV News reported in March 2008 that Crunk Rock was taking more time to complete than Lil' Jon already planned. As part of TVT Records' 2008 bankruptcy auction, Lil' Jon withdrew his multi-million dollar objection to the TVT sale proceedings and agreed to TVT’s transfer of his artist agreement to The Orchard. In return, The Orchard released Lil' Jon from all future obligations and returned the rights to the master recordings of Crunk Rock. Crunk Rock was finally released on June 8, 2010 and it features artists such as LMFAO, Soulja Boy, Ying Yang Twins, Waka Flocka Flame, R.Kelly, and many more. In March 2011, Lil Jon took part in the fourth season of The Celebrity Apprentice on NBC and was eliminated in the Final Four. In July 2011, in a recent interview has said that he is working on a new studio album and has released a song with LMFAO called "Drink".
